Project Synopsis

Amid growing complexity across CRL/OBE’s custom systems, I took initiative to create structured internal documentation and repeatable business/technical specification templates. These assets helped align developers, project managers, and stakeholders around a shared understanding of deliverables and system behavior — even as other teams struggled with clarity and consistency.

My Role and Responsibilities

As OBE began standing up a formal Business Analyst (BA) team to better manage project alignment and communication between IT and the business, it quickly became clear that they lacked the context, tools, and domain knowledge to succeed. Rather than let those disconnects derail our momentum, I stepped in to bridge the gap.

I created a comprehensive set of internal documentation — including technical spec templates, business requirements guides, and onboarding references — specifically designed to help BAs ask the right questions and relay information to technical teams more effectively. I mentored several members of the new team directly, introducing them to our IT landscape, helping them understand key systems, and connecting them with the right contacts across the business.

Beyond supporting the BA effort, I also documented numerous OBE-developed systems including ComEx, OpEx, and a range of web tools. This included writing formal technical guides, Visio-based architecture diagrams, and step-by-step support docs — all aimed at making our work more maintainable and scalable.

While the BA team struggled to get fully off the ground, the documentation and guidance I provided helped improve project throughput, alignment, and communication across departments. It also laid the foundation for a stronger documentation culture at OBE.
